"The writing is evidence of judgment."

DOC // Philosophy
01

Most teams do not lack solutions.

Teams rarely fail for lack of ideas, UI options, or tools. They fail because the problem was misdiagnosed, the constraints were never made explicit, or they shipped around the real decision. Good design reduces ambiguity before it produces screens.

02

Handoff is where judgment disappears.

Traditional handoff turns product decisions into artifacts and asks another team to reconstruct the intent later — that gap is where waste lives. The answer isn't designers pretending to be engineers; it's making judgment executable through systems, rubrics, and agents.

Selected work

Three products. Designed to the handoff.

Each one taken from problem to a build engineering can run with — design systems, product flows, and the AI behavior, spec'd and ready. I take the design as far as it goes; engineering takes it further.

Method

How I work.

My work sits between user needs, business constraints, and execution.

I keep a running map of what I have earned, what I am investing in now, and what I am betting on next. It is how I keep improving without losing the craft floor.

About

A long way to the surface.

I started in databases and backend, moved to frontend, then to UI, then to UX — eighteen years in product, fifteen in design. The path means I design with the whole system in mind, not just the screen. At Booz Allen Hamilton I carried that into government and compliance work for the FAA, the DoD, and the VA, where the rigor of the documentation matters as much as the interface.
